The Brother's Bay Residency offers one artist eight nights of quiet immersion on the shores of Jervis Bay - set between the forest and the sea. Take the time and space to slow down, look closely, and let the landscape lead.

This is not a programme. There are no structured obligations. Just unstructured, self-directed time in a place shaped by tidal rhythms, native bush, and open sky - to walk, swim, sit, observe and create.

In the spirit of exchange, the selected artist will gift one artwork to Brother's Bay - a response, in any medium, to Currambene Creek or the local riverways connecting the bay.

The Host

Brother's Bay is hosted by siblings Holly and Lincoln Smith, co-founders of Junket, an arts events organisation with deep roots in the Jervis Bay region. They know first-hand how important time, space and inspiration from nature can be for creativity - and how much this particular landscape, with its waterways, tidal rhythms and native bush, has to offer an artist. Through Junket, they champion creatives and the conditions that allow great work to emerge.

The Space

A retro A-frame shack spread across two cosy levels, with a bedroom on each floor and plenty of places to settle into. An indoor fireplace, a sun-drenched sunroom, a daybed for reading. Outside, a hot outdoor shower, a clawfoot bath under the stars, and a firepit to gather around in the evenings. The garden is full of towering gums and native banksia.

Beyond the shack, Jervis Bay opens up. Swim with dolphins, walk the easy 4km return trail to Gosangs Tunnel - a sea cave leading to a dramatic cliff edge above the ocean - or simply follow the waterways and see where they take you. Quiet stretches of beach, largely to yourself.

Open to: Artists of any discipline or medium - all levels welcome

Included: Private accommodation for the full 8 nights. Artists are responsible for organising their own food and travel to and from Brother’s Bay.
