Skye Jamieson

Skye Jamieson is a Byron Bay based painter whose practice approaches painting as a form of prayer, grounded in devotion, listening, and ceremony. Working with materials like rain water, ground stone, and dust, she gives form to moments of presence that arise in her studio and her environment. Daily walks are part of the process too, a quiet ritual that clears space for the work to come.

Jamieson studied at the ANU School of Art and Design and has shown nationally across Australia, including at Saint Cloche in Sydney and Jerico Contemporary. She has been a finalist in notable awards including the Wollumbin Art Award and the Macquarie Emerging Artist Prize. Her most recent solo exhibition was held at Lunchbox Gallery, Murwillumbah in 2024.

Alex Draper

Alex Draper is a ceramic artist whose practice is a rebellion against convention, giving shape to the parts of ourselves we rarely let breathe.

Working in coiled terracotta forms, her sculptures hold space for our shadow selves — a nest of acceptance for all our parts, unapologetic and whole. It is a practice rooted in reconnection, with self, with history, and with the slower rhythms we so easily lose.

At Butterwood, Alex will be developing her upcoming terracotta sculptural series through books, textures, light, and the natural world around her. She plans to keep a photographic diary of her stay, with drawn silhouettes and found objects shaping the work as it unfolds.
